Tim O. previously reported that Tim Carney plans to seek the Common Council president’s seat in an effort to eliminate it and downsize the size of city government.
Today, on Mayor Jerry Jennings’ radio show, Carney said he’ll make his formal announcement on the steps of City Hall March 4 at noon.
South End Councilwoman Carolyn McLaughlin has also said she’ll run. The council’s current president, Shawn Morris, is preparing for a bid to challenge Jennings in a Democratic primary this fall.
